2014 ReikiShamanic Year of the Animals in Review
As I look back over this past year I am astounded to discover just how much happened. When did I sleep?
In 2014 I published 22 newsletters and my website traffic increased an amazing 500% with visitors from 121 countries which makes me hopeful that the messages from the animals are being heard.
I wrote dozens of articles, and one went viral in February, Messages from the Other Nations on the Death of Marius the Giraffe.
So many people were devastated by Marius’s death that the Animal Elders requested the creation of telecall Messages and Healing from the Other Nations as a gift of healing for those who wanted to take some kind of positive action. Afterward I also published call to action An Invitation to All Zoos in Honor of Marius the Giraffe in hopes that energetic and spiritual approaches could be blended with the scientific, resulting in a being better quality of life for the zoo animals and more positive perceptions on the part of the people.
Marius’s death (and the messages from the animals) resulted in the creation of a brand-new shamanic teleclass series, Bones, Stones, Feathers and Fur (BSFF). Designed to help people reconnect with animals and nature, heal trauma from tragedies like the death of Marius, and create positive shifts for the animals—BSFF has been an exciting step forward.
In between offering energy healing sessions for my human and animal clients and teaching classes and teleclasses in Reiki and shamanism, I spent a great deal of time in ceremony with my students and thousands of animals—even more than the year before. I also took well over 2000 photos (of which maybe about 1/4 are published)—2014 was the Year of the Animals!
I hope you enjoy our condensed version of the WRSH year in review.
Happy New Year from all of us at
Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing!

JANUARY and FEBRUARY
I brought students in ceremony to the Animal Ambassadors at several locations for series Listening to Zoo Animal Ambassadors. Our visits included inviting the animals to join us in shamanic ceremonies by adding their prayers to specially decorated prayer sticks, and the responses of the animals to the students were amazing as you can see in new video A Spiritual Year with the Animals.
In January the students and I paid a visit (carrying the prayer sticks) to the animals at Northwest Trek for the second field trip in the series—the new training began at the end of 2013.
In February we visited the Seattle Aquarium on Valentine’s Day weekend. What better time to show our love for the animals?
Also in February animal communicator Joan Ranquet, myself, students and the rescued animals of Pasado’s Safe Haven gathered together for our first time 2-day event Animals As Healers and Teachers, and I ended up writing Wisdom of the Dalai Llama. I am delighted to announce that many of the animals that added their prayers to our ceremonies have now gone on to loving forever homes!
MARCH
Back with the animals at Pasado’s Safe Haven teaching Reiki Level 2. There were a lot of very happy animal volunteers that day!
That same month we concluded the five-month series Listening to Zoo Animal Ambassadors by spending time with the animals at the Woodland Park Zoo. And African elephant and Master Teacher Watoto shared an important message with us.
APRIL and MAY
I began teaching Animal ReikiShamanic training with the help of a great many animal species, and my cat Manitou made an appearance in Manitou and the Earth Day Despacho Ceremony.
And again in the now infamous Manitou and the Molehill Gang!
JUNE
My students offered healing sessions to the rescue animals at Serenity Equine Rescue for the first field trip of their 6-month Animal ReikiShamanic training. I also visited Wolf Haven International as related in Wolf Messages followed by a visit the following day to Olympic Game Park on the Olympic Peninsula which I have not yet gotten photos posted for.
JULY
On the 4th I experienced Whale Watching the Shamanic Way.
Joan Ranquet and I returned to Pasado’s Safe Haven for another Animals As Healers and Teachers (and I have yet to post photos for that event, too).
Later in the month my Animal ReikiShamanic students and I visited the rescued dogs and cats animals at Homeward Pet for their second field trip—amazing time working with animals with a variety of issues and past histories. And Manitou made another appearance in Manitou and the Shamanic Photoshoot. That cat sure gets around!
AUGUST
Master Teacher Watoto the African elephant crossed over into spirit the day before my annual Evening Walk on the Wild Side at the Woodland Park Zoo and her story was told in Messages from Watoto the Elephant—the most commented on of my articles in 2014.
Later in August the animals were ready and waiting for the Animal ReikiShamanic students at Pasado’s Safe Haven. Splash the pig and Romeo the goose received special sessions to help them clear past trauma, senior dogs and Charles the cat got some extra energetic support from the students.
SEPTEMBER and OCTOBERIn mid-September, my Animal ReikiShamanic students completed their training with our final field trip to New Moon Farm and Goat Rescue where we worked with some old friends and made some new ones.
In late September I embarked on a multi-state trek with the Buffalo Blanket enroute to the fifth A Walk on the Wild Side: Answering the Call of the Wild (WWS) at Earthfire Institute in October. Miles traveled over 3500. Photos taken, too numerous to count. Started to write Chronicles from the Road but sadly have yet to complete it. Blanket for the Buffalo documents a part of the journey and ceremonies during WWS, but there are many more tales to be told…
Later in October I gave two Reiki demonstrations at Mud Bay both of which quickly turned into a ReikiShamanic clinic, lol. You can see some of the excitement in Animals Love Reiki at Mud Bay.
DECEMBER
The animals of Earthfire Institute (living and in spirit) requested the creation of a special teleseminar series The Gift of the Animals. The four-part series took place in December, concluding on Christmas Eve to great acclaim from attendees and amazing participation from all the animals.
The second Listening to Zoo Animal Ambassadors series began in mid-December and our first field trip was a return to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium where the animals were definitely waiting for us, and you can see photos here.
And thanks to student Stacey Doyne there is video footage of the Red Wolves in full pack howl followed by a series of short videos of what we are calling “Puffin Pandemonium.” Stacey and I had been making much of a handsome male puffin who was definitely strutting in front of us and he decided to do a bit of showing off which got some of the other puffins going, too. It was such a joy-filled few minutes and I feel blessed to have witnessed it.
From all the animals, a very Happy New Year!
