I had just gotten out of the shower when I heard loud banging sounds coming from the front of the house.
Wrapped in a towel, I peeked my head around the corner, and was just in time to see Night Sky leap at the picture window from the cat post, and since there was no place to land, his body continued in a downward descent. I saw the Christmas garland take a hit and remain hanging (thankfully), but Night Sky and the ledge covering hit the floor, but not for long…
Night Sky immediately jumped back up to the windowsill. The bird he had been chasing was perched on the frame on the other side of the glass. Night Sky proceeded to rapidly paw-punch the glass in an attempt to somehow get the bird that was just out of reach…
By this time, I was close enough to see that the bird appeared slightly stunned. I suspect the whole drama started when she flew into the glass. I have sections of the window liberally decorated with bird shapes that are supposed to prevent such strikes, but every so often, one misses the warnings. So far, there have not been any fatalities that I am aware of, but my distance Reiki healing skills are getting a workout.
So, while taking pictures (and praying that no one walked by), with the bird’s permission, I also sent Reiki to her. After a few minutes, she was able to fly off. During that entire time, Night Sky tried desperately to capture his prize. Reiki releases emotional trauma in addition to supporting physical healing, so hopefully, the poor bird won’t have nightmares from the experience of being so up close with what must have been a terrifyingly intense feline hunter.
Once again, so grateful for Reiki!
