Having Reiki in your healing toolkit is the gift that keeps on giving
In previous post How do I love Reiki? Let me count the ways… I mentioned how grateful I am for always having my Reiki “First-Aid Toolkit” at my fingertips.
Here’s a story from a student that offers an example:
“I accidentally grabbed the barrel of a very hot curling iron. My cousin is a RN and told me my burn was second degree. The pain was excruciating and she wanted me to soak it in ice water. It was too painful to soak. I did Reiki for about ten minutes and was able to successfully soak my hand without too much pain. Within an hour, it was blistering. By last night, I’d forgotten I burned myself. 24 hours later, the blister is almost gone and I can’t feel the burn unless I push on it!!! My cats love Reiki too!”
—Elizabeth G., Seattle
There are many benefits to the practice of Reiki, but two of my favorites are how easy it is to learn, and how much animals love it (and you, for providing it).
Another student, Debbie Noyes, shared her experience after taking her first Reiki class:
“One night I fell asleep with my right hand outstretched, palm up, and woke up feeling really hot and sweaty. My cat was lying on my hand, and my other hand was on top of him. I was doing Reiki in my sleep!
“My cat Jerry always asks for his Reiki session. I just have to sit down on the couch after dinner and he comes running. Sometimes he licks my palms and bites the fleshy part of my thumb if I’m not paying attention. Cats are subtle, aren’t they?”
Debbie’s story illustrates the beautiful simplicity and power of Reiki as well as the innate understanding that animals have about its’ benefits. If you thought you were an animal magnet before taking Reiki, wait until afterwards!
And, if like myself, you dreamed of somehow working with animals you’ll enjoy this story:
“Since class I have been giving Reiki to all the animals and I see and feel them making an effort to connect with their eyes! Even the guinea pigs and the fish.
“A friend’s dog, who I was told was nearing the end of a long happy life, could no longer get around due to pain in his back knee on the right side. They said he lays around all day. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on him!
“The first day I gave him Reiki for a long while – my hands were really hot near his hind quarters. The next day he came to me and laid down. As I put my hands on him his eyes were closing – and he grew very quiet…I got a little nervous he was ready to go…I reminded myself to be a straw! I have been giving him Reiki almost daily now for two weeks a nd he is now bounding around like a much younger version of himself!
“I am so grateful to you for helping me connect with animals – it is a lifelong dream realized!”
—Nancy Zabel, Kirkland, WA
Enjoying the Reiki stories? I’ve got lots more that I share during class, and if you can’t wait until then you’ll find links to more Reiki stories here.
But why not have some Reiki experiences of your very own?
Remember all those times you wished there was something that you could offer to your child, friend, family member, or animal to help with whatever challenge they were facing?
Well, with Reiki training there is. Reiki is the gift that keeps on giving long after class ends.
After taking a Reiki Level 1 class you will always be able to offer Reiki for the highest and best support of all living beings, including yourself.
Ready to start a new chapter in your life? I’d love to assist you. Got questions? I’m happy to answer them.
Hope to see you in my next Reiki class!
Best wishes,
Rose De Dan
