Coyote Wisdom for Challenging Times
To say I was disappointed in the national election is an understatement. I have deep concerns about the near future, but for the moment I am focusing on the words of Coyote Pimpernel who said, “In every situation there is an opportunity.”
I received an email from someone the day afterward asking:
“How is this country supposed to move forward into the light with a negative administration?”
For some reason, I seem to operate better when asked a question. Spirit usually weighs in and inspires my reply. This time I felt a strong rise in the energy, one that filled me with a strength of purpose that remains. I felt like I had joined the French Resistance during WWII. Here’s what I wrote:
“I rely on historian Heather Cox Richardson and her Letters from An American for my understanding of how the current political scene works so I cannot answer from that standpoint.
“What I do know is that I am not going to just stand by and allow people to persecute other people for who they are or destroy the environment. We are still a democracy on the state level here in WA and many other states. I am not sure the incoming administration is going to find things are as easy to change as they think.
“All I can tell you is to keep doing your personal work, removing fear, anger and anything else that does not serve you. That makes a big difference. We do not have to become them to stand against them.
“Hugs. We are not going back.”
I wrote the above the morning of November 6 while battling a nasty sinus infection/cold. Being sick has slowed me down quite a bit, but it also resulted in my receiving a gift of help from friends for the literal “heavy-lifting” and stacking of my firewood which happened to be delivered this week. It was an opportunity to accept help with grace plus gratitude and awareness of the power of community—a key approach for coming challenges.
I am regaining health and strength, and am working on plans for creating community and guidance on healing (more about that in my next newsletter).
For now, I just wanted to reach out and let everyone know you are not alone. In the words of Mountain Lion Windwalker in Windwalker’s Message for the World: “Each person must cultivate a garden within themselves, and when they do we—the animals, birds, plants, fish—will reach back to them. Together we are strong. Together we can heal ourselves and this world.”
I also have some healing tips, resources, and inspirations listed below.

Healing Resources for Challenging Times
<- My Healing Tips ->
While considering the shocking emotional impact and strain of current election results I thought “what do I have to offer that might help others?”, and here is what I came up with:
1) Videos ReikiShamanic Tips for Challenging Times: The first two videos guide you through how to balance and clear your energy with the help of the Stone and Plant People (shamanism). The series was created during the pandemic, but the trainings and stories apply to any time.
2) ReikiShamanic Healing after the Election: Written after the 2016 election (can you believe we are here, again!?) there is an Earth healing exercise and reminders about the modalities you can easily access.
3) If you need personal support, I do offer half-hour Reiki and/or shamanic clearing sessions for people via phone that can help with clearing and relaxation, but slots are limited. I can also offer referrals.
