Paw Reiki
It is always a delight to teach Reiki, and the best perk is all the great stories that my students share about their experiences. This story features Tank the cat and his person, Jan.
Many of my Reiki 1 students report that their animal companions like to snuggle up and “draft” off the energy currents while they are enjoying some personal Reiki time. My cat Manitou has elevated “Reiki drafting” to a whole new level.
Most mornings, my cat Manitou joins me for my daily self-Reiki practice.
On this particular morning, as soon as I placed my hands in the first Reiki hand position (hands on either side of face, covering the eyes), Manitou climbed up my reclining body and flopped down into his first Reiki position: paws tucked under my chin, with the right side of his cheek and ear resting on my right hand. Manitou has a chronic issue with his sinuses on that side of his head, and he knows that this hand position is great for focus on that area. He’s no Reiki fool!
When I moved into the second hand position, Manitou adjusted accordingly—head now alongside the right side of my face.
By the time I had gotten to the heart chakra Manitou was very relaxed and in the Reiki flow. He’d tucked his upper body into the crook of my arm, paws on either side, and his body stretched out as long as it could go—Reiki-cat bliss!
Manitou is great encouragement for extended Reiki for myself. We both enjoy the snuggling and benefits of Reiki, but it does make it harder to lever myself out of bed to start the day—but what a wonderful way to begin!
If you would like to learn Reiki and enjoy the benefits for yourself and your animal companions, I teach live, personally mentored Reiki Level 1 class. The class is available worldwide regardless of time zones or work schedules since there is a replay for those who can’t attend live, and for all students for permanent reference afterward.
In addition, I have a private Facebook page where questions are answered between each class and guidance offered to each student on their Lifework assignments (Reiki is definitely more fun than homework, lol).
After years of teaching in-person Reiki classes (with the help of my guides), I discovered that teaching six weekly virtual classes helped students learn and build confidence better than having all the information thrown at them in one to two in-person classes.
There is time to digest information and practice, as well as more time for each student to receive the individual guidance needed to support them in making Reiki a permanent and practical part of their daily lives. Reiki is for life, and that is also why I call it Lifework, rather than homework!
