Photo Documentary: Listening to Zoo Animal Ambassadors at Point Defiance Zoo
The first class field trip for 5-part series Listening to Zoo Animal Ambassadors took place on December 14, 2013. The creation of this class is a culmination of all the guidance I have received from the animals over many years—what all my training and dedication has been for—finally I can teach others how to hold space in a sacred way so that the voices of the animals could be heard by many (see Why I Bring People to the Zoo).
Our visit included inviting the animals to join us in shamanic ceremonies by adding their prayers to specially decorated prayer sticks, and the responses of the animals to the students were amazing.
I’ve put together a Listening to ZAA at PDZ photo slideshow on Flickr that partially documents our time with the animals at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. The first photo of the Red Wolves even has a link to a recording of their group howl which was taking place as the photos were being taken. To view next photo move pointer over image and then click on the directional arrow that appears. Many of the photos include a description which can be found in the upper right hand corner of the page.
I do not have photos of all of the animals since I am not a master photographer. There are some lighting conditions I simply don’t know how to deal with. However there are definitely enough for everyone to see how well the animals respond to a respectful, spiritual approach that incorporates energy and animal communication. Enjoy!
