How long is a session? What does it cost?
An initial session is one hour in length for an animal. Subsequent follow-up sessions for animals may be a half hour depending on circumstances. A session for a person is a half hour and client has the option of a Reiki-only session or a Reiki + Shamanic session. See Scheduling for current fees for sessions for people and animals.

How will a session benefit me or my animal companion?
It is impossible to say exactly how an individual will respond to a ReikiShamanic session since everyone is unique, however each session is customized for the benefit of the client and geared toward his/her highest healing good. In general each session offers energetic balancing and clearing support for quality of life, which can result in a restoration of physical ease, and emotional peace and joy. The stories under Testimonials might help explain the potential benefits.

Does a session offer benefits for elderly or chronically/terminally ill animals?
My practice specializes in supporting elderly animals with aging issues and those challenged with chronic or terminal illnesses. After an initial one-hour session a limited number of weekly 15-minute sessions are available for clients in greatest need. If you are interested in the details please send an email.

What should I do to prepare for a phone/distance session?

For Animal Sessions:
• I will need a digital photo of your animal companion to work with, one where he/she is looking at the camera so that I can see the eyes. Photo must be clear and there should not be any other animals or people in the shot.
• Please send photo via email.
• At the scheduled time I will call you at the phone number supplied at time of scheduling. During the session you should be available for one hour somewhere you can be comfortable and undisturbed; your companion does not have to be next to you.

For People Sessions:
• At the scheduled time I will call you at the phone number supplied at time of scheduling. For the session you should be somewhere you can be comfortable and undisturbed.

What is your cancellation policy?
There may be an occasion when you may have to reschedule/cancel a session. Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance so that we may offer that time slot to another, otherwise there will be a full charge for the cancelled session.

How long have you been doing this?
I have had an alternative healing and teaching practice since 1996, and was an early pioneer in actively promoting a dual practice for people and animals. I have studied extensively on both coasts of the U.S. as well as in Peru. (See bio for more information.)

Where are you located?
I am located in Seattle, but offer sessions across the U.S., Canada and other countries via phone/internet.

Can I learn how to do what you do?
Yes! I teach a variety of classes and events which are beneficial to both the person, and their human/animal families. One class can yield a lifetime of benefit, a small investment for a great return.

Can you change my pet’s behavior?
In order to change an inappropriate or unpleasant behavior first it is necessary to understand why the animal is suddenly doing something you find difficult to live with such as inappropriate urination/defecation, aggressive/destructive behavior, nervousness, etc. That is where animal communication and many years of experience with animal behavior come in. Once the motivation is understood assistance can then be offered, whether in physical changes to environment or emotional/physical clearing and support for you and your pet. If the trigger is removed unwanted behaviors will cease.

I am under stress, could my animal benefit by a session?
If you are under stress your animal is under stress. An example might be divorce or depression. Animals pick up on our stress because they love us and because they rely on their instincts to tell them when something is not right. While they may not understand the complexities of what we are dealing with, they do understand emotions such as fear, anger, grief and may manifest behavioral problems such as aggression, inappropriate urination/defecation, etc. in response. If you and your animal are under stress sometimes the best solution is a dual session.

How can I be a better friend to my pet?
Dogs have been domesticated for more than 20,000 years, cats have not, and many other species such as birds, ferrets, snakes, etc. have never been. The miracle is that most of the time alien species (alien to our homes that is) cohabit with us quite well. Part of my job is teaching people how to understand what motivates their companion and what their needs really are; to look at the world through their eyes while getting in touch with powerful aspects of ourselves that are untapped and hidden. With this purpose in mind, I offer sessions, classes and events designed to assist people in better understanding what the animals have to teach us and how to gain greater happiness in our own personal lives.

I am moving, how can I make this easier for my animal?
If you are stressed your animals are stressed, and actually in this case they are MORE stressed. Cats and dogs are territorial in different ways, suddenly the environment they have known is in major upheaval, things are being packed, going into storage, and the entire household routine is upset (cats especially hate that). A session not only helps to explain to them what is happening, and why, but aids in calming and relieving physical and emotional stress (and if you really want to relieve the situation a dual session for you and your animal can be arranged).

Do you work with lost animals?
I do not do lost animal communication sessions. I refer people to my Lost Pet Resources page for tips and links to help turn lost into found.

How does shamanic healing work?
Shamanism is the world’s oldest form of healing—every indigenous culture has a shamanic healing tradition. In Native American tradition a practitioner is known as a medicine person, in Peru they are called paqo’s. The shaman calls on healing allies for assistance, both in this world and in the spirit world. I blend Reiki and shamanic energy with animal communication/intuition depending on the needs of the client.
