The Southern Resident Orcas are running out of time—there are only 76 left. In addition to challenges from chemical and noise pollution, they are slowly starving to death due to over-fishing and the damming of salmon runs.
Their plight was brought to international attention when Orca mother Tahlequah (J-35) carried her baby (who died 30 minutes after birth) with her for an unprecedented 17 days of mourning. The tragedy highlighted the strength of family connections that Orca are noted for, but from my shamanic perspective it was also a plea from Tahlequah to the human People for recognition that we are all Relatives who share this Earth. The Orca and the Whales are calling to us to remember our ancient connections and work with them to restore balance—not just for them—but for All Our Relations.
In 2015 The Whale Teachers series was created in response to the request of the whales to bring the people to meet with them in ceremony through storytelling and shamanic journey.
I invite you once again to join me in answering their call.
June was proclaimed to be Orca Awareness Month by the state of WA in 2007, and now Orca Network and Orca Salmon Alliance have teamed up for Orca Action Month, so holding this ceremony in June allows us to create a greater network on intent focused on the well-being of the Orca.
Prior to the telecall, I meeting in sacred space with the Orca, Whale Teachers and other marine wildlife and collecting their prayers for ceremony while on a commercial whale watching tour. If you would like to join me on the afternoon tour out of Anacortes on June 22 you must register with Island Adventures.
During the call the Southern Resident Orcas, Transient Orcas and Gray, Humpback and other Whales want to share their messages through a shamanic journey that I will guide attendees on. They wish to speak with as many people as possible, so this is being offered as a 60-90 minute telecall available worldwide June 25 at 6:00 p.m. Pacific. The call will also be recorded in case some people can’t attend at that time. Attendees will also hear stories and see photos of our encounters on the Whale Watch.
A portion of proceeds from this call will be donated to Orca Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the whales of the Pacific Northwest, and the importance of providing them healthy and safe habitats.
I hope you will join me for this unique opportunity to offer support, and experience the wisdom of the Orca and Whale Teachers.
