A Home at the End of the Long Road

🐾 ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT 🐾

Noctua and Sadiya have found their forever home—and the way it unfolded feels nothing short of serendipitous.

Sarah, their adopter, moved to the Seattle area a little over three years ago. In my own timeline, that’s just before these two were rescued from the brink of starvation and came into my care after surviving a hoarding situation. Earning their trust took time, patience, and gentleness—and for three long years, no adopter appeared.

Six months ago, Sarah bought a home and began planning to adopt. She knew she wanted a bonded pair of adult cats so they wouldn’t be lonely while she was at work. When she couldn’t find adult bonded pairs nearby, she widened her search and discovered a list of rescues—including Red Rose Animal Rescue, where I foster.

When she realized the rescue was listed two hours south of Seattle, but the cats themselves were living with a foster nearby, she felt it was fate. When we spoke, I agreed.

Sarah was ready—and genuinely happy—to offer Noctua and Sadiya everything on their wish list: a quiet household, tall cat trees, sunny windows, a yard for bird-watching, and even the possibility of a future catio. Just as importantly, she arrived with gentle energy, patience, and a deep understanding of how to greet cats who have lived through trauma.

Thursday night, Mama Noctua and her daughter Sadiya moved into their new home. My heart misses them, of course—but I know, without question, that they have finally reached their happily ever after. They now get to be part of a home, not live their lives in a single room. I will continue to send them their nightly bedtime Reiki to help ease the transition.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Cat Food Angels for their extraordinary generosity and support during a foster stay that lasted far longer than any of us expected. And thank you to everyone who shared their story, amplified their need, and held hope for them. This truly took a village.

Stay tuned—Sarah has promised updates. She says she’s a proud Mama and is happy for me to share their journey with all of you. 💛
