Merry Catmas Gifts And A New Year For Your Soul

Merry Catmas Gifts and a New Year for Your Soul

At this tender, luminous time of year—when the days grow quiet and the nights invite us inward—I wanted to offer something from the heart to thank you for your presence, your support, and your love for the animals and the work we share.

This year’s holiday image features Night Sky before the fire, wishing you a Merry Catmas from all of us at Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing. I’ve also turned the image into a digital puzzle for you—something cozy and playful to enjoy during these slower days.

A Small Gift of Holiday Cheer

I can’t send each of you a card in the mail, but I have chosen a special e-card with you in mind. It’s a beautiful Jacquie Lawson animation of Santa and his reindeer making their rounds—leaving gifts not only for people but also for the wild ones. Birds, rabbits, and forest creatures are remembered along the way, which felt especially fitting for this community.

The card is from the feline family and me: Night Sky, of course, along with former outdoor stray Tamerlan, and foster sisters Noctua and Sadiya, who are still patiently waiting for their forever homes. Click here to enjoy.

And speaking of Tamerlan…
I recently received a message from a neighbor a block away who spotted him in action. She even provided photographic evidence: a junco perched on her trash bin, Tamerlan crouched below, and then—mid-launch—as he attempted (and thankfully failed) to catch the bird. I apologized for his antics, but she replied, “Oh no, we love him!” I was grateful for acceptance (personally, I think Tamerlan may be on the naughty list).

A Very Wild Feast

This year’s holiday meal will include steak for the cats (with a tasteful line of whipped cream for dessert—mine will go on hot chocolate). Rogue and Milady, the local crows, will also receive steak, although I’m hoping they don’t invite the entire flock.

There will be apple slices, blueberries, and mealworms for the nighttime visitors, and seeds, nuts, mealworms, and suet for the daytime birds and squirrels. It feels right to celebrate in a way that includes All Our Relations.

A Note from the Heart

It’s been a dark and heavy few weeks here in Washington with the atmospheric rivers and flooding affecting so many communities. While we’ve been fortunate where I live, my heart is with those who have experienced loss or disruption—especially at this time of year. I include them in my daily prayers, asking for safety, ease, and comfort for all beings affected.

Even in difficult seasons, I’m reminded that care, kindness, and community still ripple outward in quiet ways. The natural world continues to offer resilience, beauty, and reminders that we’re not alone—and both give me hope.

Looking Ahead

Reiki Level 1 is now open for registration. For this class, the group community will be hosted on Teachable rather than in a Facebook group—something many of you have requested. It is where students will receive personal mentoring and be able to participate in a private community setting.

And for those interested in Sacred Rhythms, January’s theme invites us to begin the year not by pushing forward, but by listening deeply—grounding ourselves in steadiness, breath, and inner alignment as the new cycle begins. You can learn more below.

A Holiday Blessing

May your home be warmed by kindness,
may your heart be held gently,
and may the natural world steady your steps as the season turns.

From my heart, and with purrs from Night Sky and the rest of the feline council,
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Reiki Level 1 Class

Reiki teaches us to listen—to our bodies, to energy, to animals and other living beings.

A grounded way to begin the year.

Reiki Level 1 class starts January 14.

A New Year’s Beginning for Your Soul

January is often framed as a time to push forward,
set goals, and “get it together.”

But Nature tells a different story.

This month, Sacred Rhythms invites you to begin the year not by striving but by listening.

By meeting the quiet strength that allows you to move through challenge with steadiness rather than force.
By learning how to stay centered when the world feels loud.
By discovering what true replenishment feels like — in body, heart, and spirit.

This is not about resolutions. It’s about restoration.

This month’s shamanic journey is guided by two powerful forces of nature:

Bison, who teaches grounded strength, presence, and resilience.
The Spirit of Snow, who reminds us how to rest, restore, and renew.

Together, they offer wisdom for navigating challenge without becoming hardened by it, showing you how to stay centered, calm, and rooted even when the world feels unsteady.

You’ll be invited to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what steadies you from within.

Story: A bull buffalo in Yellowstone offers a living example of focus, balance, grounded power, and joy, even in winter.

Digital Puzzle: A playful, calming moment featuring a joyful dog running through snow —a reminder that winter can hold delight as well as stillness.

Videos from the Wild Reiki Spa and Wild Rose Cafe: Urban wildlife navigate the snowy and rainy days with spirited resilience.

Curated quotes, music, and book recommendations

What this month supports:

  • 🌿 Staying grounded when life feels overwhelming
  • 🌿 Releasing tension and nervous-system fatigue
  • 🌿 Learning to replenish rather than push
  • 🌿 Cultivating presence and calm
  • 🌿 Beginning the year with clarity and intention

This experience is not about fixing yourself.
It’s about remembering how to be with yourself and the natural world—gently, honestly, and fully.
