Let Freedom Sing This 4th Of July

Let Freedom Sing this 4th of July

Today may feel like a day of mourning following the passage of the Big Ugly Bill, and I acknowledge that we need to navigate those stages of grief. I would have liked to have seen it buried, but its passage makes me even more determined to protect the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the amendments, and all that our Statue of Liberty stands for.

In concert with other shamans, we have set some things in place that you can join in today and every day thereafter, which can help restore balance and heal the wounds of this country. It may not happen overnight, but based on steps already taken (by many, not just us), cracks are appearing in the plans and actions of the few that seek to suppress the rights of We the People. Ultimately, authoritarianism and greed will not succeed, for they are not in balance with the natural order.

Today is the 249th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Shamanically speaking, that makes this day a powerful one for taking energetic as well as physical actions, such as protests.

Here are some things you can do today and in the days that follow:

1) Let freedom ring by singing “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee” (click here for why and lyrics).

2) Place an image of the Statue of Liberty on your altar. She holds the dreams of all who came in hope to this land. Lady Liberty is a powerful symbol worldwide and she is pissed at the current state of affairs. Take a look at the words engraved on her base. Let’s support her in her fight for all by including blessings for all that she stands for in your prayers.

3) Mention the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, the Bill of Rights, and the amendments, plus Democracy in your daily prayers. Ask for blessings upon them (and the land). Ask for blessings for those who stand up for freedom and justice for all, and for those who struggle with adversity due to the lack of the same.

4) If you are a Reiki 2 practitioner, you can send Reiki daily to the situation for highest and best good. Remember that Spirit takes the long view, so let go of expectations and simply allow shift and healing to happen in its own way.

And you might find inspiration (as I did) in two articles  (plus video) from historian Heather Cox Richardson and her Letters from An American and journalist Dan Rather’s Make Some Noise.

P.S. A reminder that you are also stronger and calmer when you grow connections with the land and All Our Relations. The elements contained in July’s Sacred Rhythms can help with that.
