Of course I felt our loss deeply—particularly poignant in the last moments of the game where victory seemed assured one moment and gone the next. But any personal sadness I might have felt was quickly submerged beneath the emotional storms that followed. My biggest concern was for the team, the city of Seattle and the fans who were hurting. What could I offer? I received the guidance that I should set up a free telecall that will include a shamanic journey for guidance and healing. Experience the wisdom of the animal spirits and embrace their strengths as they teach us how to expand our potential for greater spiritual growth. …Continue reading
Two years ago if anyone had suggested that one day I would become an avid Seahawks fan and experience a shamanic lesson while watching a football game I would have thought they were a little crazy.
Shamanism and football? What could one possibly have to do with the other? Apparently a lot when the football team we …Continue reading
For many years I have taught my students that smudging is essential for the health of people as well as animals. And I share the same information with my clients. Recently I saw those benefits dramatically illustrated for dog Lizzie.
When I first met Lizzie she wore a vest that proclaimed that she was blind and deaf. …Continue reading

In 2014 Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing students invited thousands of domestic and wild animals to join with us in shamanic ceremonies by adding their prayers to specially decorated sticks. We carried their prayers to fire on their behalf to support healing of the ancient bond that connects us all. And field trips offered Reiki students many opportunities to practice. This video was created in celebration of all the wonderful moments we shared with the animals. …Continue reading
It has been a little over a year since Manitou first appeared in my back yard as a starving cat in mid-November. My small cat family and I have celebrated one Christmas with Manitou already, but I feel as though this will be his first real one with us. When he joined my household he was suffering from what I would call PTSD from abuse and abandonment issues, and he needed a lot of healing and understanding. …Continue reading
It is always a delight to teach Reiki, and the best perk is all the great stories that my students share about their experiences. This story features Tank the cat and his person, Jan. …Continue reading
Bluebell’s energy was incredibly rich and powerful. One’s body leaned toward her perhaps in awareness, on a deeper level, of the connection that the tribes had with the vast herds that once roamed this land. And the feeling was mutual. Bluebell had adopted humans as her herd. …Continue reading
The first dog that I adopted after leaving home was three year-old collie/shepherd mix I called Bear. She came into my life at a time when I truly needed her protection and support, and I came to love her dearly. However Bear had a few vices, one of which was food. I made sure to keep temptation out of her way at home, but that became more difficult when visiting my family at the holidays. …Continue reading

Zoo Animal Ambassadors have invited us to listen to their perceptions and connect with them as spiritual beings through local field trips and worldwide teleclasses. For this unique 5-part class series I will be sharing with you the basic techniques and exercises that I use before, during and after a zoo visit to properly introduce myself, initiate an interaction or conversation with the animals, and create ceremonies. While this class focuses on zoo animals the techniques learned support and facilitate communication and connection with all species—domestic to wild. …Continue reading
The Gift of the Animals: Stories, Perceptions, Shamanic Journeys is a unique 4-part teleseminar series hosted by three humans and the wild animals of Earthfire Institute (living and in spirit). The animals would like to help us shift back into connection with them. In order for that to happen we need to view the world through their eyes for a moment—to shift to their way of perceiving. …Continue reading
That morning the keepers at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle had found her collapsed in her outdoor exhibit. Efforts to try to get her back on her feet failed. Her condition worsened, and the humane decision was made to euthanize her.
I was saddened when I heard the news that day, and I knew that many others would be as well, including Chai and Bamboo—her elephant companions.
But Watoto’s passing brought up more than just sadness in others—it re-ignited the touchy issue of whether elephants should be kept in captivity at the Woodland Park Zoo (or in captivity at all, anywhere).
But Watoto had her own message to share. …Continue reading
On October 12, I offered a Reiki demonstration for animals at Mud Bay in West Seattle. I had a wonderful time with all the people and their dog and cat companions. The energy was flowing, and all the animals went from nervous (or highly energized in the case of two puppies) to calm and relaxed. It is hard to pick a favorite since they were all such good Reiki recipients. …Continue reading

Grey Whale Baby and Speedboat ©2014 Rose De Dan
This summer I went on a whale watch with Island Adventures.
Before leaving my house I was told to place a copy of the book Sightings: The Grey Whales’ Mysterious Journey under my mesa (shamanic healing bundle). I thought this rather curious since it was not migration season …Continue reading
