In February the animals of Pasado’s animal sanctuary, Joan Ranquet and I co-hosted Animals As Healers and Teachers. It was a rainy weekend, but that did not stop the animals or us from having a great time in conversation and in ceremony. You can see a few special moments in the photo montage.

I’d like to share one experience that I had when we visited with Animal Teacher Dalai Llama who shares pasture with a llama named Miracle. What’s in a name? In this case, a lot of wisdom.

I asked Dalai Llama, “What do you want us to know?” His answer was far deeper than I was expecting: “Love.”

As I digested that tidbit I asked him, “What do you want us to do?” His reply, “Mend your broken hearts.”

As that was an aspect of the work we were engaged in during the weekend it came as beautiful validation from a very wise source. Our broken hearts, or old stories, stand in the way of our being able to fully hear and embrace the messages of the animals. When we are broken what we perceive gets distorted.

The ceremonies that brought the animals and participants together were powerful and beautiful, one attendee said, “Seeing the animals in this new light was a big shift for me and has significantly changed my interactions with them for their benefit as well as my own.”

Joan and I had such a wonderful time with everyone that we just had to return. Mark your calendars for July 19-20, 2014 when we will join with the animals once again for Animals As Healers and Teachers at Pasado’s Safe Haven.

I look forward to consulting with the Dalai Llama and asking for his perception of how we are progressing!
